Would you like to volunteer to contribute to the success of Symposium 2017? You do not have to be registered for Symposium to volunteer.
It’s a very rewarding experience to volunteer, because you’re making Symposium 2017 run smoothly so people can enjoy themselves.
If this is your first Quilt Symposium it's a good way to meet new people and see behind the scenes.
Is your partner coming to Christchurch? Maybe they could volunteer for a slot and feel part of the event too.
Volunteers are expected to be on their feet the majority of the time. Comfortable shoes are recommended. Some positions require lifting.
Be in for the Lucky Draw - for every volunteer job you do, you'll receive one entry
Here are some of the tasks that need to be done:
Hang up or take down quilts - Work in a small team under the guidance of our Exhibitions Committee
Exhibition helpers - greet guests and keep an eye on the quilts at one of our venues. You will wear white gloves to turn quilts over and encourage guests to vote for the Viewer's Choice prize.
Happy Hour - bartending, pass food platters around, rearrange chairs, welcome tired students seeking refreshment.
Mini Bus drivers - drive the shuttle buses around the venues, pickup excited visitors and return them (and their shopping) to their accommodation at the end of the day.
Class Angels - spend the day in a class helping the tutor and students. Maybe running messages, ironing, collect the lunches, unpicking the occasional woops!
Obligation & Liability Disclaimer
Quilt Symposium 2017 will make the best effort possible to run an accurate volunteer system. The best effort will also be made to honour the slots as presented on this application. Quilt Symposium expects its volunteers to do the same. However volunteered slots are subject to change in which case we will notify volunteers in advance of an event when significant changes occur.
Likewise volunteers are expected to let us know when they are unable to meet their commitment. In most cases volunteer commitments can be changed or cancelled by emailing us at email@example.com
Quilt Symposium will not be obligated to hold a slot for any individual even if that individual has signed up or allegedly signed up to volunteer for a particular slot.
